Requesting a TCP Connection/Invoking the IP Protocol

Requesting a TCP Connection:
Once the HTTP client has found the IP address and port number
of the HTTP server on the ITcapsula.com network, it can now request
that the TCP client on Lab1 connect to the server, as shown in
Figure:

Invoking the IP Protocol:
The TCP client on Lab1 sends a request to establish a
connection to port 80 at 188.227.180.249 (ITcapsula.com). The TCP
connection request is performed by asking the IP module to send
an IP datagram to 188.227.180.249. (See Figure).
Lab1 (192.168.1.35) can only directly deliver an IP datagram
to cnn.com (188.227.180.249) if it is on the same network as
cnn.com.
Because they are not on the same network, Lab1 must send the
datagram to the router at the edge of the LAB network, called
the default gateway, which has the IP address 192.168.1.254.
